Alan and his wife Susan moved to Hanover, New Hampshire, in 2011 to be closer to the places they love to hike…the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Green Mountains of Vermont. They possess a passion for walking in the great outdoors. It doesn't matter whether it's a two-mile loop out their back door or an extended trek in one of the world's great mountain ranges… it's the best way to recharge and formulate ideas.
Alan and Susan are members of the President's Society of the Appalachian Mountain Club and were accepted into the AMC's Four Thousand-Footer Club, having successfully climbed all 48 mountains in New Hampshire higher than 4000'. They are also members of the Green Mountain Club in Vermont and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
Alan and Susan also enjoy the visual arts. They have been members of AVA Gallery in Lebanon, New Hampshire, for several years. Alan joined AVA's board in the fall of 2019 and was elected to the board's chairmanship in September of 2020.
