Located just west of Hanover, New Hampshire, across the Connecticut River, Norwich, Vermont, was founded in 1761. Around the town, you’ll find thick woods and distant hills. Its location allows for an easy commute for those who work in the Upper Valley area, and Norwich is conveniently located near Interstate 91.

Next to that is Girard Field, which has two rentable baseball diamonds. Both places offer hourly or weekly rentals with special rates for local non-profit organizations.

Norwich’s residents can enjoy small shops and local restaurants, many of which are located on Main Street. There are a lot of opportunities for a relaxing afternoon and grabbing a bite to eat with friends. Also, residents won’t have to go far to enjoy the great outdoors. Jasper Murdock’s Ale House at the historic Norwich Inn serves delicious food and has a wide variety of drinks on tap.
 
Another restaurant in downtown Norwich is the Blue Sparrow Kitchen. They feature locally sourced foods with plenty of breakfast options available. Founded in 1790, the King Arthur Baking Company doesn’t just sell its food products to grocery stores around the country, it also has a cafe and store at its main campus in Norwich.

Norwich also has plenty of fun places to shop. For women’s clothes and more, there’s Zu Zu’s. Book lovers enjoy the Norwich Book Store. It has books for all ages, games, stationery, and more. Sutton Books, on Main Street, features rare and out-of-print books. Vermont Wooden Toys has a diverse range of beautifully made toys.
 
From clothes to candy, Dan & Whit’s general store has a little bit of everything. Their mantra is, “If we don’t have it, You don’t need it!" Norwich Wine and Spirits has a large selection of wine, beer, and spirits and features a very knowledgeable staff. They host in-store wine tastings and can provide spirits for weddings.

The Norwich Farmers' Market provides an opportunity to shop from the source, the local farmers. It goes beyond food, though, and has arts and crafts, plants, flowers, and even live music. Norwich hosts different concerts throughout the year, such as the Open-Air Family Series with concerts and storytelling. 
 
For horse enthusiasts, Pirouette Farm hosts horse clinics put on by instructor Sharon White. They also host the annual Sharon White Fall Fun ClinicThe Norwich Lions Club hosts the annual Norwich Fair in July to raise money for local causes. It has games, rides, and plenty of fun.
 
The Montshire Museum of Science, located near the Connecticut River, features hands-on science exhibits on different topics and multiple nature trails outside the building. There’s also a nature play area for children. The museum hosts programs for a variety of age groups. Located on Main Street, the Norwich Historical Society and Community Center has exhibits, events, and programs related to history. Celebrate the Season features holiday-related events in and around Norwich.
 
Beyond Norwich, Randolph, Vermont, hosts the multiday Central Vermont Chamber Music Festival, and in Quechee, Vermont, the annual  Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival is a huge draw. Festival-goers will have the chance to see hot air balloons take to the sky and even go for a ride themselves.
